Stephanie Guirand

Stephanie Guirand has recently completed a PhD in Sociology at Goldsmiths, University of London. Her dissertation uses a prison industrial complex abolitionist as a framework to examine housing transience and insecurity experienced by African-descended men in Cambridge, MA. Stephanie is the Program Function Manager for Community Service Cares, Inc. and serves as the Senior Researcher for The Black Response (TBR). TBR is an abolitionist research and advocacy organization. Stephanie is leading TBR’s examination of the landscape of alternative public safety programs and the links between policing and material/welfare policy. Stephanie is working with Karaya LLC on the Black Lives Matter Era project to archive materials, ideas, and outputs from the BLM era in Massachusetts. Stephanie’s research interests are policing / alternatives to public safety, housing policy, gender, and intersectionality.
